Flood Insurance Information and Maps

Some general information on flood insurance (Source: http://www.ready.gov/floods/)

  • Flood losses are not typically covered under renter and homeowner’s insurance policies.
  • FEMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which makes federally-backed flood insurance available in communities that agree to adopt and enforce floodplain management ordinances to reduce future flood damage.
  • Flood insurance is available in most communities through insurance agents.
  • There is a 30-day waiting period before flood insurance goes into effect, so do not delay.
  • Flood insurance is available whether the building is in or out of an identified flood-prone area.

March 24, 2015 - FEMA has issued revised flood insurance rate maps (FIRMs) and a flood insurance study (FIS) covering portions of Bucks County including Hulmeville Borough. For additional information, please refer to the following:

New flood insurance rate maps are scheduled to go into effect in the near future. If you are in a flood prone area, you may be required to obtain flood insurance. After the new maps go into effect, the insurance may be at a higher rate than is currently available. Read our informational letter for more info.
